Terms of service

Last updated: October 12, 2026

These terms cover the free beta for independent tutors, and the family adults and students they invite. They apply wherever you use TutorFrame, subject to mandatory local law.

Who runs TutorFrame

TutorFrame is operated by Andrew Maier, a sole proprietor registered in Armenia ("we", "us"). Full operator details are in the legal notice. A company may take over the service before paid plans start; we will tell users by email and in the app at least 30 days before a change of operator takes effect.

These terms apply to everyone who uses TutorFrame: tutors, family adults and students. By creating an account or accepting an invitation, you accept these terms.

What TutorFrame is, and what it is not

TutorFrame is a record-keeping service for a private tutor's practice. It keeps the tutor's students and families, services and prices, the schedule, lessons and attendance, cancellations, the terms a family agreed to, what was charged and what was paid, homework and reports, and it sends emails about them.

A tutor may also use it to publish a public page that anyone with the link can read and send a request from, to sell prepaid packages of lessons, to set discounts, to let families and students book open slots themselves, and to offer extra time after a lesson that ran over. TutorFrame records each of these; the tutor offers them and is responsible for them.

TutorFrame also provides private messages within a practice, learning goals, study logs and file sharing. It is not a payment service or a video tool. It does not keep the tutor's accounts or file their taxes, and it does not decide who may act for a child. We are not a party to the agreement between a tutor and a family: the tutor offers the lessons, and the family agrees to the tutor's terms.

Payments are recorded, not processed

TutorFrame moves no money and holds no funds. It takes no payments, sends no payouts, and has no field for card or bank account details. Families pay their tutor directly, outside TutorFrame, in the way the two of them agree, for example in cash or by bank transfer.

The tutor records a payment after it happened. TutorFrame then keeps a journal of charges, payments, advances and corrections, so the tutor and the family see the same statement. We do not check that money actually changed hands: every amount is what the tutor recorded. Nothing is overwritten; a mistake is corrected by a new, reversing entry that shows who made it and why.

A package sold, a lesson booked in an open slot and extra time that a family accepted each create a charge or a credit the same way: the family pays the tutor directly, and TutorFrame only records it. A statement in TutorFrame is a record kept for the tutor and the family, not a bill or a receipt issued by us. It is not a tax invoice or a receipt, in any country. A disagreement about money is between the tutor and the family; we can explain what was recorded, but we do not decide who owes what.

Accounts

  • One account per person. An account belongs to one person and is never shared. You sign in with a link sent to your email address or with your Google account; there are no account passwords. A retained account on a shared browser can be protected with a PIN.
  • Tutors sign up from this site and set up their own practice. A tutor can add a second sign-in step to their account.
  • Families and students join only through a tutor's invitation. A family adult sees and does only what the tutor, or the family's administrator, allows them.
  • Children. A child does not need an account to be taught through TutorFrame. A child may have their own sign-in only after an administrator of the child's family confirms in the product that they are the child's parent or legal guardian and gives their consent; for a child under 13 there are further steps, described in the privacy notice. A child's account can see lessons and homework, use permitted chats, goals and their own study log, cancel lessons, ask to move a lesson, and book a lesson at the normal price; a lesson the child books creates a charge that the family's payer owes. It cannot see money or accept terms. The family adult can withdraw the consent at any time, which removes the child's access to the practice's records and cancels any invitation still pending.
  • Age. You must be at least 18 to open a tutor's account or to act as a family adult. Students may be any age; a child under 13 has an account only through a parent or guardian, as described under "Children" above and in the privacy notice.
  • Keep your email safe. Anyone who can read your email can use your sign-in link and sign in as you, unless you have turned on a second sign-in step: then they are still asked for a code from it. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account; you can sign out everywhere from your account settings.

The tutor's responsibilities

A tutor decides what their practice records in TutorFrame and is responsible for it. In particular, the tutor:

  • records their lessons, attendance, charges and payments accurately, and corrects them when they are wrong;
  • has the right to record the personal data of the students and families they add, and to invite them, and tells the families they add that their records are kept in TutorFrame, with a link to the privacy notice;
  • sets their own prices, cancellation rules, terms, packages, discounts and booking hours, and is responsible for them towards their families;
  • if they publish a public page, is responsible for what it says and for how they answer the requests it brings in; a visitor who sends a request has no account and is not bound by these terms, and the privacy notice says what happens to the request;
  • meets their own tax, accounting, licensing and other obligations as a tutor; TutorFrame's records do not replace them;
  • gives access only to the people who should have it, and revokes it when that changes.

At a tutor's written request, we can load their existing students, services, schedule, draft terms and opening balances from a spreadsheet. The tutor checks the result; terms loaded this way stay drafts until the tutor confirms them, and families' contacts are loaded only if the tutor's request asks for it.

Your content and permission to use it

You keep ownership of the files, messages, homework, answers, reports, notes, profiles and other content you upload or write. Other people's rights in that content remain theirs. You give us a non-exclusive licence only to host, store, copy, transmit and display it as needed to provide TutorFrame to you and the people you choose to share it with. You allow the providers listed in the privacy notice to perform those tasks for us. A public profile is shared with anyone who can read it. This licence gives us no right to sell your content, use it in advertising or publish private content to a new audience.

The licence ends when the content is erased. It continues only as needed for copies or records lawfully retained under the privacy notice. Hiding a message does not immediately erase its earlier revisions. Sharing a file cannot recall a copy someone has already downloaded.

You promise that you own the content or have the permissions or other legal right needed to upload, write and share it with the selected audience. Giving credit alone does not give you permission to copy a work. You also promise that your use of personal data is lawful.

To the extent the law allows, if your intentional or negligent breach of that promise causes a third-party claim against us, you must reimburse the reasonable, direct losses and necessary costs caused by your breach. This is the indemnity for your content. It excludes loss caused by our own fault, avoidable costs and penalties that cannot lawfully be passed to you. We will promptly tell you about the claim, let you respond and help with the defence, and take reasonable steps to reduce loss. We will not agree to a settlement that creates an obligation for you without your agreement. This clause does not impose a duty on a child or override consumer protections.

Acceptable use

Use TutorFrame to run or follow a tutoring practice. Do not upload, write, share or use it for:

  • copyright infringement or other content you have no right to share;
  • child sexual abuse material, sexual exploitation, grooming, or any sexual content involving children;
  • threats, harassment, hate that incites violence or discrimination, or instructions to commit a crime;
  • fraud, impersonation, unlawful disclosure of personal data, or unwanted advertising;
  • malware, harmful files, or attempts to access another person's records or bypass permissions;
  • sharing sign-in links or codes, using another person's account, or testing our security without written permission.

To report a security problem, write to hello@tutorframe.net.

Reported content and account restrictions

You can report copyright infringement, other illegal content or a breach of these rules through Copyright complaints and reported content. That page explains notices, counter-notices, the response process and how to contest a decision. A report is considered on its facts; sending one does not automatically prove a breach.

After a valid notice or other evidence of a breach, we may remove content, disable access to it, or restrict, suspend or end the responsible account. We choose a proportionate response. We may act first when the law requires prompt action or there is an urgent risk to a child, another person or the service. Otherwise we give you a chance to respond. We send you the reason, affected content or account, scope and duration, legal or terms basis, and how to contest the decision, unless the law prevents that disclosure. We also tell the reporter the outcome where we can lawfully do so.

In appropriate circumstances we terminate accounts of repeat copyright infringers. We consider substantiated incidents and successful challenges, rather than treating every allegation as an infringement. Tutors can moderate messages in their own practice. Hiding a message is different from erasing its stored revisions.

A beta, not a finished product

  • TutorFrame is in a free beta. We make no promise that it will always be available or free of errors.
  • Features may change, be added or be removed while the beta runs.
  • The beta currently runs without database backups. Keep your own copy of what matters: a tutor can export their lessons and money records as CSV at any time, and anyone can ask us for their data (see the privacy notice).
  • When the beta ends, we will tell you at least 30 days ahead and give tutors time to export their records.

Fees

TutorFrame is free during the beta. Paid plans may follow. Nothing will be charged without your agreement, and we will tell you at least 30 days before any paid plan applies to you.

Your data and the tutor's instructions

The privacy notice explains the data we collect, the providers we use, retention, transfers and your rights. We show no advertising and do not sell personal data. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to record and share someone else's data.

If you are a tutor, you are the controller of your students' and family adults' practice records, including children's records. We are your processor for those records. We are separately the controller of accounts, service security, support, data requests and product analytics.

For processing on your behalf, these terms and the privacy notice form our data-processing agreement. The subject is managing your tutoring practice for the duration of your use and the stated deletion period. Processing consists of collecting, storing, organising, retrieving, sharing with authorised people, exporting and erasing the records. The people and data involved are your prospects, students and family adults, and their contacts, access records, lessons, terms, financial records, educational content, messages and files described in the privacy notice. As controller, you decide the lawful purpose, what is entered, who has access and when to request erasure.

  • We process practice data only on your documented instructions through the product or a verified request, including instructions about transfers, unless the law requires otherwise. Where permitted, we tell you of that legal requirement before processing. We tell you if an instruction appears to infringe data-protection law.
  • People permitted to access practice data must keep it confidential. We apply security measures appropriate to the risk, including encrypted connections, access checks, private file storage and the authentication controls described in the privacy notice.
  • You authorise the listed subprocessors for their stated tasks. We must bind them to equivalent data-protection duties and remain responsible for their performance of those duties. We notify you of a proposed addition or replacement before it takes effect and let you raise a reasonable data-protection objection. If we cannot resolve it, you may export and end the affected service before that provider processes your data.
  • Taking account of the processing and information available to us, we help you answer data-subject requests, handle breaches, meet security duties, and carry out any required impact assessment or consultation. We notify you of a breach of your practice data without undue delay.
  • At the end of processing, you may choose return of your data followed by deletion, or deletion. We help with a verified export request and erase the practice within 30 days, including provider follow-up. Only specifically justified legal retention and the shared references explained in the privacy notice remain.
  • We provide information needed to demonstrate these duties and allow reasonable audits or inspections by you or an auditor you appoint. Arrangements must protect other people's data and the service's security and must not prevent an audit required by law.

Liability and your consumer rights

The free beta is provided "as is", to the extent the law allows. We cannot promise uninterrupted availability or that every feature is free of errors. You should keep copies of records you need. This does not excuse us from duties or warranties the law imposes.

You and your tutor are responsible for the records you enter and for payments and tutoring agreements between you. We are responsible for our own acts and omissions under applicable law. To the extent the law allows, we exclude unforeseeable loss and indirect business losses. If you use TutorFrame for your business, our total liability during the free beta is limited to USD 100, only to the extent the law allows. That cap does not apply to you as a consumer.

Nothing limits liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any liability the law forbids us to exclude or limit. Nothing limits your mandatory consumer rights, data-protection rights or statutory right to compensation. The beta status and the fact that the service is free do not waive those rights.

Ending your account

You can stop using TutorFrame at any time. Request your own account's deletion in account settings, or write from its email address to hello@tutorframe.net. We verify the request and erase account data within 30 days of receipt, subject to the specific exceptions in the privacy notice. Submitting a request does not immediately end access. Once erased, sign-ins and personal access end. Other people's records may retain a disabled reference to you.

Deleting a tutor's account does not close their practice. Ask for practice erasure separately and export records you need first. Practice erasure removes its financial, contractual, educational and audit records within 30 days, except the minimal shared consent references and any specifically justified legal retention described in the privacy notice.

We may end an account under the reported-content procedure above, for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, or when the beta ends. We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before we end an account, except where the reason is abuse, a security risk or a legal duty, in which case we may end it at once.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms as TutorFrame changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will tell tutors and families about a material change in the app or by email at least 30 days before it applies.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Armenia. If you are a consumer, this choice does not take away mandatory protections of the law where you normally live. Disputes go to the courts of Yerevan, Armenia, unless mandatory law gives you access to other courts, including your local courts. Before that, please write to us: most problems can be solved by an email.

Translations

The English version prevails if a translation differs, to the extent the law allows. This does not override a mandatory right to information or terms in your language, or the interpretation most favourable to you where consumer law requires it.
